At Silver Champs

What a meet!! Last year we celebrated with a first place win.. This year we celebrate with a second place trophy. I will say Coach Meghan and I won the warm up!!! Today our team won in effort, sportsmanship, and cheering ... Good job team... And Congrats to Patrick Cool Hand Griff.... What a great coach and person! You lead your team and you deserve that win. Thanks for the laughs during the meet. Good job coach!!

At Silver Champs- WHAT crushed it... We had several time improvements and are total is 17 qualifiers for Junior Olympics next weekend. Tomorrow I'll be at Silver Champs ready to see more awesome swims!!

WHAT Senior Circuit and Bronze Champs recap


Below is the info for Senior Circuit. This is for WHAT(woodland hills) 
This is a special year. Last year WHAT had no qualifiers for this meet. This year we have five swimmers competing in sixteen individual events and two relays! Congrats to the competitors for their achievement.
Day 1 - Friday
We had a great start to the meet with swims by Ellis Cannon, Benito Countouris and Aidan Demkee. Aidan posted a personal best in the 200 freestyle. Ellis qualified for finals in 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly. Benito qualified also for finals in 100 butterfly. In finals Ellis posted a personal best in breaststroke and improved is finish place while in butterfly he posted his second best time bettering his preliminary time. Benito finished butterfly with a personal best; which was also a team record and achieved his first qualifying time for the Eastern Zone Senior Champs!
Day 2 - Saturday
The second day included swims by Riley Aul, Ellis, Benito and Mian Laubscher. Riley started prelims with a personal best 50 freestyle. Ellis, Benito and Mian each posted excellend morning swims in the 50 freestyle. Ellis posted a personal best in 100 backstroke and qualified for finals. Finals is always exciting and Ellis rose to the occasion posting a personal best in 100 backstoke improving his finish by four places. The finals session concluded with Aidan, Ellis, Benito and Mian setting a team record in the 400 medley relay; additionally Aidan led off with a personal best backstroke (also a team record) and Mian anchored with a significant improvement in his 100 freestyle.
Day 3 - Sunday
What a great start! Personal bests by Riley, Ellis, Aidan and Mian in 100 freestyle. We had a great night at finals. Benito made a small adjustment to his strategy which enabled him to drop three seconds in the 200 butterfly, setting a new team record and achieving an Eastern Zone Age Group Champs qualifying time (his second). The meet concluded with the 400 freestyle relay of Aidan, Ellis, Mian and Benito. The boys set a new team record and leading-off Aidan achieved his first Eastern Zone Age Group Champs qualifying time!
Congrats to all five swimmers for their achievements this weekend (gotta like when the hard work pays off).

Bronze Champs: WHAT
This weekend six WHAT swimmers competed in Bronze Champs at the Olympic Swim & Health Club in Penn Hills; Colby Bernard, Mary Gotaskie, Franny LaRoche, Warren Sipe, Luka Stratimirovic and Stefan Stratimirovic.
The team competed in 23 individual events achieving personal best times in 13 swims with two first-time swims. The group dropped a combined 44.28 seconds!
Two of the swims qualified for Silver Champs; Stefan in 200 IM and Franny in 400 FR.
Congrats to all of our swimmers for their achievements!

Haymaker-
 Wednesday July 6, 2016 Haymaker competed in the 49th Highland Relays in Penn Hills.  The last three years our team has come in third place.  This year we broke the streak and earned a second place title out of 6 teams.

THINGS: 
 WHAT will compete this Saturday in North park in Silver Champs.  

Hayamker will try to defend our title of the #1 Team in Monroeville .  We swim in the Monroeville Invitational.  There are seven teams in the Monroeville area.  We have our eyes on the prize and hopefully we will be as victorious at last year.

Meet The Coach

Coach Becca






Coach Becca has been involved in swimming all her life. She grew up swimming for the Monroeville Marlins. 

She swam for Gateway High School where she was a WPIAL qualifier in many events all four years and a PIAA qualifier her senior year. She proceeded to swim for SRU until rotator cuff surgery ended her swimming career her sophomore year. She has an associates degree in Massage Therapy.
Coach Becca had been with the Monroeville Marlins from 2010 to 2016. She spent two years as an Assistant, and the last four as Head Coach. She's also Head Coach at Haymaker swim club during the summer months.



During the 2014-2015 season Coach Becca was an assistant coach for the AMS All Star Team 10 and under age groups at both short course and long course Eastern Zone Age Group Championshps. She will be an assistant coach for the 11-12 age groups for the 2015-2016 season.Coach Beccas mantra for swimming is simple "Swim Smart, Swim Fast, and Have FUN!!!


                                                           


The Woodland Hills Aquatic Team is a nonprofit, competitive swim team and a member of Allegheny Mountain Swimming, a division of USA Swimming. At WHAT, our mission is to develop and foster life values such as responsibility, teamwork, discipline, determination, patience, work ethic, confidence, and pride to student-athletes through the sport of swimming, and in doing so provide an avenue of excellence for swimmers of all ability levels.
Join the Haymaker Hammerhead's Swim Team and become a part of something bigger than yourself!
Learn techniques for each of the strokes,and compete against other pools around Pittsburgh.All skill levels are welcome, and we would love for you to join the team!
Feel free to join the team any time during June and July.
